Estonian Central Council in Canada (EKN)

The Estonian Central Council in Canada (ECC) is a central organization elected by Estonians in Canada with a mandate to promote the interests and development of the Estonian community in Canada. ECC continues to fight for the interests of Estonia and our community and against those who seek to rewrite our history and threaten Estonia's independence.

ECC has six representatives in the Estonian World Council.

ECC has two representatives in the Global Estonians NGO: Marcus Kolga (chairman of the NGO) and Reet Marten-Sehr.

ECC is a member of the Central and Eastern European Council in Canada, and ECC President emeritus Marcus Kolga, is the president of CEEC. CEEC represents over 6million Eastern and Central European Canadians.

ECC has been very active in 2020 despite not being able to host in-person gatherings.

While we were able to host our annual flag raising at Toronto City Hall for Estonian Independence Day. Once the pandemic hit we seamlessly moved online supporting virtual disinformation identification seminars, virtual commemorations and hosting a virtual conference connecting Estonian organizations across Canada with the World Estonian Program and World Youth Program committees in Estonia. As always, ECC continues to advocate for Estonian Canadian interests at home and in promoting freedom and justice in Estonia, as well as, Central and Eastern Europe. Feel free to check out our activity summary below to see all that we have been up to.
